Meet Ashmir, a human cleric...

Left at a temple of St. Cuthbert in the port town of Ohk at the young age of 8 by his abusive father, Ashimar led a very hard and hate filled life. The Clerics at his worship allowed him to stay with them, to perform odd jobs out around the temple and to learn of St. Cuthbert and his teachings.

Ashimar, having no other distractions in his life, was a quick learner and an aggressive, and at times brutal, combatant. He had surpassed several of his teachers in the ability of the Quarterstaff by the age of 17.

Nearing his 18th birthday, an event changed his life. A trio of demons known only as Vrock, attacked and slaughtered many of the Clerics and worshippers of St. Cuthbert during a routine mass. Although the demons were eventually fought back and destroyed, the effect they had on Ashimar was great.

Ashimar left his hometown of Ohk the very next week, with a vengeance none could thirst. He had taken his teachings of Cuthbert to the next level and had decided to destroy all demons in this plain of existence.

Ashimar spent the next six years of his life in the city of Khardov, studying the foes he had sworn to defeat. During this time, he learned several of the languages spoken by these beasts and used this knowledge to attack and defeat several lesser demons and undead foes in the area.

Ashimar has spent most of his life in a private hell, half of his own creation. Because of this, he is used to working alone and doesn't respond to teamwork efforts well. Although he is an intelligent man, he often reacts to events in the only way he has known: violence. He has no interest in personal wealth and only takes the odd jobs that will allow him to keep himself fed and equipped in his war against the unholy.
